How Urban Hive Madrid and Cosmopolitan took a book club beyond the page

Editorial event partnerships that keep a story moving

Editorial event partnerships can take a story beyond the page and bring a community together around a shared interest. On 2 July 2026, Urban Hive Madrid hosted a Cosmopolitan Spain book club with Violeta Reed. Built around her novel Si es perfecto no es amor, the sold-out gathering turned literary content into a live conversation in the centre of Madrid.

The venue gave the event a distinctive character. Urban Hive Madrid’s contemporary interiors, welcoming atmosphere and carefully designed details created a beautiful setting for listening and talking. Guests also ate particularly well, thanks to a generous selection of appetisers from GINA. The food supported the social rhythm of the evening and allowed conversations to continue naturally. Books, hospitality and dining therefore became connected parts of the same editorial experience.

From a live book club to social content

During the session, Reed explored love, second chances and relationships that do not always unfold as expected. The format gave readers direct access to the author and brought Cosmopolitan’s editorial world into a participatory setting. Meanwhile, the hotel’s visual identity and GINA’s presentation created strong material for photography and short-form video.

The partnership continued after the guests left. Cosmopolitan’s published feature carried the event to the title’s wider digital readership. Photographs, video clips and social posts from those involved added further layers of reach. Consequently, the book club gained a longer life online and created more opportunities for the audience to encounter the story beyond the capacity of the room.

Bacana brings the right partners together

Bacana identified an opportunity aligned with Urban Hive Madrid’s positioning as a social hub, negotiated the collaboration and coordinated delivery with the hotel and Cosmopolitan Spain teams. The work combined brand collaborations and partnerships, a focused PR and media relations strategy and events and brand experiences. This connected the editorial angle, venue, guest journey and food offering within one clear plan.

The book club shows how a well-matched editorial partnership can build community and generate useful content before, during and after a live event. Cosmopolitan provided the editorial platform; Urban Hive Madrid brought a setting with personality; Reed led the conversation; and GINA enriched the gathering through food. Bacana turned that alignment into a coordinated collaboration with reach across editorial and social channels.
